The Finance and Governance Department is part of the Municipal Director's Office and plays a central role in supporting the municipality's leadership on matters relating to financial and operational management. The department is responsible for overall financial management, strategic procurement issues, quality work, overall governance matters, the municipality's internal bank, and financial management of the corporate group. Together, we create the conditions for efficient governance and sustainable development of the municipality's operations. We are now seeking an Assistant Finance Director who wants to become an important part of our continued development. Your responsibilities Our operations generate significant engagement, and as Assistant Finance Director, you will be at the center of events. As Assistant Finance Director, you have a key role in which you, together with the Finance Director, lead and develop the work within the Finance and Governance Department. You will also work closely with the Procurement and Purchasing Manager. You are responsible for the department's finances, financial management, and budget process. You have personnel responsibility for and lead 14 employees and report directly to the Finance Director. As Assistant Finance Director, you convene the central finance management group and should be able to step in for the Finance Director when required, for example in various substantive matters, oral presentations to the Municipal Executive Board or Municipal Council, or during vacation or other absence. The role also includes communicating effectively with other managers and decision-makers to ensure that operations are aligned with the organization's overall goals and guidelines. Who are you? We are looking for someone with a degree in economics or other relevant academic education in economics as assessed by the employer. You have several years of experience in a leading position within the field of economics and a solid background in qualified financial work in a strategic role in a larger and complex organization. You have previously driven change and development work and thrive in contexts where you can combine strategy with practical action. As a leader, you apply trust-based leadership and have confidence that those you lead have the knowledge, judgment, and will to perform their work in the best possible way without detailed control. Your most important task is to create the conditions based on the needs that arise in the interaction between employees and those we exist to serve. The purpose of contributing to welfare and social benefit is always guiding your leadership, and you base all your decisions on what is best for the operations. You have the ability to collaborate effectively with different people and are always focused on the office's shared mission. You work strategically and systematically to achieve set goals by creating conditions for both operations and politics to succeed in their assignments.
