Clinical pathology is part of Laboratory Medicine, a regional organization with operations in Lycksele, Skellefteå, and Umeå. Laboratory Medicine Västerbotten comprises approximately 520 employees and includes clinical pathology, clinical microbiology, infection prevention, clinical genetics, clinical immunology and transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, biobank, and tissue facility. Through agreement, we have total responsibility for clinical pathology in Östersund, including medical management responsibility for immunology and transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, and clinical microbiology. Our operations are accredited and we work according to the quality system based on this. At the clinical pathology laboratories, approximately 120 people work in Umeå and approximately 15 people in Östersund. Due to our rapid development and increasing number of analyses, staffing has been significantly expanded in recent years, and we are now also expanding on the management side. RESPONSIBILITIES As assistant department head with us, you see the bigger picture and potential and take us forward boldly. In your leadership role, you act as a role model, work to create shared visions, and unlock initiative. You challenge and develop as well as encourage and make your employees visible. We are looking for assistant department heads for clinical pathology for the IMH (immunohistochemistry) and hematopathology sections respectively. You will serve as the immediate supervisor for staff with responsibility for staffing, employee conversations, salary discussions, and salary setting. You will also be responsible for administration in our personnel system, scheduling, and working for a good work environment and participating in rehabilitation together with the department head. You will be responsible for the daily operation and development of the sections in consultation with the department head and colleagues, and will have close collaboration with the medical director and other key functions in the operation. In your role, you will report to the department head. QUALIFICATIONS · Experience working in a laboratory and relevant higher education (e.g., natural science, biomedical analyst, or equivalent). · Experience with leadership, for example as a manager, project manager, or team leader. · Driven and solution-oriented. · Confident leader with good listening and communication skills. · Unpretentious, responsive, flexible, and good organizational ability. · Can work independently and in teams. · Advantageous with management experience and/or work at an accredited laboratory. · Proficiency in Swedish in both speech and writing. · Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
