About Kriminalvården Kriminalvården is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking additional staff members. Our most important goal is to reduce reoffending – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for correctional facilities, probation services, remand prisons, and prisoner transport. Area of Operations Skogome is Sweden's largest correctional facility for men convicted of sexual offenses. In an ongoing renovation and new construction project, Skogome will expand from today's approximately 350 places to a total of approximately 800 client places, which among other things means more staff and larger, modern facilities. The largest occupational group is correctional officers, but the facility also employs healthcare professionals, administrative personnel, educators, production managers, and others. Skogome has also decided to prepare to receive sentenced children and youth. VO Skogome is now introducing a new management structure that creates a new leadership level between the Correctional Services Director and the Correctional Services Inspector. Correctional Services Inspectors are first-line supervisors who manage staff working at the facility. The new management level has the title Assistant Correctional Services Director (KVC). We are therefore now seeking three Assistant Correctional Services Directors for the operations area. Job Description As an Assistant Correctional Services Director, you will contribute to goal achievement for the entire operations area. You will have explicit functional responsibility within one of the responsibility areas: Clients, Security and HR, or alternatively Service/Administration and Support (including, for example, facility operations, program activities, healthcare, and kitchen). Functional responsibility means developing and monitoring activities within your function based on the operations plan, employment matters, work environment, internal and external cooperation, and client decisions. As an Assistant Correctional Services Director, you also have operational, budget, and personnel responsibility, and your task is to plan and coordinate activities while also developing them to achieve the highest possible goal fulfillment. You will have a number of directly reporting Correctional Services Inspectors to support you, and through trust-based leadership, you will create favorable conditions for them to succeed in their roles. On behalf of the Correctional Services Director, you will run an efficient operation within the allocated budget framework. The operation is, like the rest of Kriminalvården, complex with broad scope and in an expansive phase, and your assignment will be characterized by this. Your assignment involves coordinating, driving, and implementing change and development work with particular responsibility for your function. You will be part of two management groups. One led by the Correctional Services Director and consisting of him/her and the Assistant Correctional Services Directors (strategic management group). You will lead the other management group yourself, where the Correctional Services Inspectors assigned to your area of responsibility are members (5-10 Correctional Services Inspectors). You should be prepared to cover for the Correctional Services Director in his/her absence. Travel is part of the position. Flexible working hours apply. We are seeking someone who has: Academic education/degree of at least 120 hp equivalent to two years at university or other education, combined with experience that the employer deems relevant for the assignment Well-documented, several years of management experience with personnel, work environment, and budget responsibility Experience driving change processes Experience and ability to cooperate both internally and externally Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written Category B driver's license It is also advantageous to have: Documented leadership training, for example within Kriminalvården's program or another management development program Postsecondary education with a focus on, for example, criminology, behavioral science, HR, sociology, law, economics, security, property management, or healthcare Project management training Management experience in the form of leading other managers and managing through a management group Experience with monitoring, quality assurance, and reporting, preferably within one of the responsibility areas: Clients, Security, or Service/Administration and Support (including, for example, corrections, healthcare, production, and kitchen) Experience representing the operation in mass media Good knowledge of the Office suite and of the overarching conditions (regulations, budget, employment policy, etc.) for public operations, preferably state operations.
