The Clinical Microbiology operational area (VO), biobank, care hygiene, occupational and environmental medicine and Practicum consists of five operational branches: • Clinical Microbiology Region Skåne's laboratory for microbiological diagnostics and immunity assessments in infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. • Biobank comprises the Central Biobank Unit responsible for Region Skåne's biobank and the Regional Biobank Center South. • Care Hygiene Skåne Region Skåne's expert function to prevent care-related infections and limit infection transmission within care and services. • Occupational and Environmental Medicine South expert operation with the task of investigating and preventing illness related to occupational and environmental conditions. • Practicum Clinical Skills Centre Region Skåne's center for clinical skills training and coordination of CPR activities. Within the operational area, approximately 275 employees work with broad specialist competence. The position is located at Clinical Microbiology in Lund, where we annually analyze approximately 1.3 million samples within an analysis range comprising more than 200 analyses. The operation is accredited according to ISO 15189 and environmentally certified according to ISO 14001. The Culture and Direct Detection unit has approximately 50 employees. Here, microbiological diagnostics are conducted with a focus on culture-based analytical methods to detect and identify bacteria, fungi and parasites. The operation includes, among other things, culture, species identification, resistance determination and microscopy as well as the use of modern laboratory techniques such as mass spectrometry and automated culture systems. The unit plays a central role in the diagnosis of infectious diseases and works continuously to develop methods and procedures to ensure high quality and patient safety. Does this sound like a workplace for you? Submit your application today! 1 position(s). DUTIES We are now looking for a biomedical analyst for the Culture and Direct Detection unit in Lund. With us, the work is dynamic with constant new challenges and development opportunities. At the unit, we work with a combination of traditional culture methodology and techniques such as mass spectrometry, PCR and microscopy to detect bacteria, fungi and parasites in patient samples. Parts of the culture-based bacteriology are automated with digital reading. You work closely with other professional groups in multiprofessional teams responsible for different parts of the diagnostics. With us, you perform all parts of the analysis process from pre-analysis of samples to practical performance of examinations and post-analysis. You are also expected to actively participate in operational development as well as in the supervision of students and physicians. The work may involve evening and weekend shifts as the operation is staffed all year round. QUALIFICATIONS We welcome you who are an authorized biomedical analyst with the right to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish, corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale, are a requirement. It is an asset if you have experience in microbiological diagnostics, preferably with a focus on bacteriology, mycology or parasitology. Practical experience with culture-based analytical methods, species identification and resistance determination is particularly valuable. Experience in mycobacterial diagnostics and/or sepsis diagnostics is also an asset. Please describe your experience in these areas in your application.
