The libraries in Avesta are meeting places for knowledge, democracy, culture and community. Here people of all ages and with different experiences meet. We work to make the library relevant, accessible and important for more people.
Now we are looking for a librarian who wants to combine daily library work with a special focus on accessibility, social sustainability and outreach activities.
About the assignment
As a librarian, you are an important part of the library's core operations. You staff the library's public functions and meet visitors every day with professional service and good care. You guide on literature, information and media matters, provide reading recommendations and support in the library's digital services. You work with the library's collection and help create an attractive, current and accessible library for the municipality's residents.
You are responsible for parts of the library's media collection. You follow developments in the library, literature and social sphere, participate in operational development and collaborate with colleagues, other activities and external actors.
This position has a special focus on the library's work for increased accessibility. You plan and implement reading promotion initiatives for seniors and groups prioritized by the library law. You work with the Boken kommer program, Digital First Aid and the library's activities in Krylbo. You also conduct library tours and develop outreach work together with colleagues and external partners.
The role also includes administrative tasks that support the library's daily operations and development. This could include supporting the operations manager in planning, coordinating and scheduling staffing, working with statistical follow-up and contributing to other operational administration.
Evening and weekend duties are included.
We are looking for you who
are educated as a librarian and have several years of experience working in public libraries. You have good knowledge of libraries' democratic mission and the intentions of the library law and are driven by making the library accessible to more people.
You build trust through professional conduct and good service. You work in a structured way, take own initiative and enjoy collaborating and developing operations together with others. You have an interest in reading promotion work, social sustainability and issues related to participation and inclusion.
You are curious about developments in the library field and want to contribute to developing the library's operations together with your colleagues.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
A degree in library and information science.
Several years of experience working in public libraries.
Experience with reading promotion work, literature mediation and qualified library service.
Experience working with groups prioritized by the library law and outreach activities.
Good proficiency in library service, information mediation and digital guidance.
Class B driver's license
It is meritorious if you have experience in staffing planning, scheduling or other qualified operational administration.
