Description Do you want to make a difference in students' learning, reading development, and future prospects? We are now looking for a dedicated librarian who wants to develop school library services in Nordost 3 together with students, educators, and colleagues. Nordost 3 includes three schools located in Bergsjön, within walking distance of each other. Gärdsmosseskolan is a grades F-6 school with approximately 320 students. Bergsjöskolan is a school with approximately 400 students, from preschool class through grade 6, and in the adapted primary school grades 1 to 6. Sandeklevsskolan is a secondary school for students in grades 7–9 with approximately 300 students. We work according to Gothenburg City's library plan 2024-2028 with the goal that the school library has a clear pedagogical function. Through close collaboration with school staff, the school library contributes to strengthening students' reading, media and information literacy, and creating a school library for everyone. The school library is an important part of the school's work for increased goal achievement, well-being, and identity formation. By integrating the library into teaching, we strengthen students' opportunities to develop language, knowledge, and critical thinking. Job Responsibilities As a librarian, you work strategically and operatively to develop the school library's pedagogical function. You strengthen students' reading engagement and reading ability through reading promotion and language development initiatives, both independently and in collaboration with school staff. The position is a permanent employment and encompasses work at multiple schools within the education area Nordost 3. The assignment is distributed so that 50% of the position is assigned to Gärdsmosseskolan, where you have primary responsibility for school library operations. The remaining 50% of the position is shared between Gärdsmosseskolan, Bergsjöskolan, and Sandeklevsskolan, where you are responsible for developing the school libraries' pedagogical activities in collaboration with school library staff at each school. The assignment includes: Planning and implementing reading promotion activities for students. Collaborating with teachers, work teams, and after-school programs to integrate the school library into teaching. Developing students' media and information literacy and digital competence. Planning and delivering instruction in the library and classroom. Guiding students in information searching, source criticism, and reading. Contributing to the school's value-based work and democratic mission. Developing the school library as a socially, pedagogically, and physically accessible learning environment. Responsible for media planning, acquisitions, cataloging, lending, and collection management. You also collaborate with other school librarians within Gothenburg City through the primary school administration's school librarian network and participate in professional development initiatives that develop school library services. Qualifications Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: A university or college degree in library and information science or equivalent education. High digital competence relevant to the assignment. A strong interest in children's and young adult literature. It is meritorious if you have experience working in a school library or other educational activities directed toward children and young people. To succeed in this role, you need a genuine commitment to children's and young people's learning, education, and cultural development. You want to contribute to ensuring that all students have access to literature, knowledge, and tools to navigate today's information society.
