What we offer
With us you get meaningful work where every meeting with our users is filled with purpose. Stockholm City Library offers everyone free access to culture, education, information, and public services. Those of us who work in Stockholm contribute to shaping a sustainable Stockholm where everyone can grow. Together we create a climate-smart city characterized by social, economic, and democratic sustainability.
Stockholm is one of Sweden's largest employers and Stockholm City Library is Sweden's largest public library. This means you become part of a larger context where there are opportunities to learn new things, develop, try new approaches, and engage in various issues. Within the organization, you are offered professional development: both digitally via a learning portal, and physically through training and courses, conferences, and exchanges. Through UX methodology, we promote a creative approach to development where users are always in focus.
Being employed by the City of Stockholm means you have the role of a public official. This means you have a responsibility to do your best and to deliver on the mandate we have received from the city's political leadership. This is the foundation of the democratic mandate we have received from citizens. Everyone contributes – everyone is important.
Your role
Your daily tasks include meeting and helping visitors of all ages, working with the library's books and periodicals, and guiding and supporting visitors in digital services and technology related to the library's offerings. You work in a structured way and have the ability to plan and manage your work, but you also thrive in an environment where you can improvise and seize opportunities. You are a steady and stable presence in the library space, and you are a team player in your work group.

You work with the library's books and periodicals, and you implement public programs and activities. You plan, conduct, and evaluate your work, with a focus on development and improvements. You promote participation and co-creation in your interactions with Stockholm residents. You will be part of a work team focused on adult services, but will support work with other target groups as needed. Within your role, you have collaborations internally within Stockholm City Library, and you may participate in one of our networks. You also collaborate and cooperate with people and organizations outside the library, such as the district, educational providers, or local associations.
