About the Position The role of Master aboard Lakeway Express is developmental, varied, and fast-paced. As master, you will have overall responsibility for the vessel, crew, cargo, and safety onboard. The role involves varied work tasks, requiring strong communication, leadership, structure, and the ability to ensure that everyone working on the vessel is content, works efficiently, and collaborates effectively. As master, you will also be an external face for both Wallenius and the vessel itself. In contact with ports, authorities, customers, and the office, we see this as an important part of the role. The position means you become the employer's representative onboard. Onboard Lakeway Express, both Filipino and Swedish crew members work together. English is our safety as well as social language onboard. Terms The position is a permanent employment, starting with a standard probationary period. Rotation: approximately 4 weeks Swedish flag Start date by agreement. The position may be filled before the application deadline closes. Requirements Requirements for the position are: Master's license/certification Valid certificates and endorsements for the position in accordance with STCW Manila Good English proficiency – ability to express yourself both orally and in writing Documented work experience as a Master from previous positions Meritorious Qualifications and Personal Qualities It is advantageous if you: Have previous experience from similar Ro-Ro vessels You are a positive person who is self-driven, takes initiative, and is a confident leader with drive and stimulated by new challenges. Your approach is service-oriented, solution-focused, and safety-conscious. It is important that you are communicative, value collaboration with others, and have insight into leading people of different nationalities. Leadership is a cornerstone of the master's role.
