Working as a Boat Operator As a Boat Operator, you are responsible for conducting transports by sea and, where applicable, by land and on/over ice. The work includes maintenance and upkeep of the Swedish Maritime Administration's property and equipment. The position includes participation in maritime rescue operations, for which we offer specialized further training. Operations run 24/7, but this current position is based during office hours, Monday-Friday. The pilot boat is crewed by two Boat Operators, one serving as captain and one as mate/deckhand. To serve as mate, you must hold at least Master Mariner Class VII certification and have completed internal training. To serve as captain, you must hold at least Master Mariner Class VI certification and have completed internal training. Sweden is divided into nine pilot transport regions around our long coastline. We are now seeking a boat operator for the North Pilot Transport Region, stationed in Luleå. In addition to Luleå, Skellefteå and Örnsköldsvik are included in the pilot transport region. Who are you? You must meet the following requirements: At least Master Mariner Class VII certification (not restricted to inland waterways) At least Chief Engineer Class VIII certification Basic Safety certificate At least ROC certificate Medical certificate for seafarers (deck service in unlimited waters) Category B driver's license (manual transmission) Good skills in reading and speaking Swedish and English Good skills working with maintenance systems It is advantageous if you have: Good skills in operating smaller vessels as captain (approximately 10-40 meters in length) and good ability to perform technical service and maintenance. Master Mariner Class VI certification. Experience with waterway operations. Documented experience in technical maintenance of engines and vessels. Good experience operating snowmobiles and hovercrafts. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
