Sweden's most beautiful workplace is seeking a Boatman (permanent position) based in Luleå Working as a Boatman As a Boatman, you are responsible for conducting maritime transport and, where applicable, land transport and transport on/over ice. The work includes care and maintenance of Swedish Maritime Administration property and equipment. The position includes participation in maritime rescue operations, for which we provide specialized training. Operations run 24/7 year-round, which means day, evening, and night shifts according to work schedule. Pilot boats are crewed by two Boatmen, one serving as captain and one as mate/deckhand. To serve as mate, you must hold at least Officer of the Watch Class VII certification and complete internal training. To serve as captain, you must hold at least Officer of the Watch Class VI certification and complete internal training. Sweden is divided into nine pilot transport areas along our long coastline. We are now seeking two boatmen for the North Pilot Transport Area with base in Luleå. In addition to Luleå, Skellefteä and Örnsköldsvik are included in this pilot transport area. Who are you? You must meet the following requirements: - at least Officer of the Watch Class VII certification (not limited to inland waters) - at least Marine Engineer Class VIII certification - Basic Safety certificate - at least ROC certificate - medical certificate for seafarers (unlimited deck service) - category B driver's license (manual transmission) - good skills in reading and speaking Swedish and English - good skills in working with maintenance systems - good ability to perform technical service and maintenance. It is an advantage if you have good skills in operating smaller vessels (approximately 10–40 meters in length) and Officer of the Watch Class VI certification. This position may require Swedish citizenship. Security vetting with background check may be conducted before offering employment. You must provide proof of certifications, certificates, and medical certificate by submitting a current maritime service record from the Swedish Transport Agency.
