Your Tasks
We are seeking child care workers and afterschool teachers for hourly substitute positions. With us, you become part of a creative and dynamic environment where we together create the best conditions for learning. As an hourly substitute, you step in when regular staff are absent. You work as a resource in classrooms or at the afterschool program, where you support either a whole group or individual students based on the day's needs.
As an hourly substitute, you become an important asset to our team and work to give students a safe and structured school day. With clear leadership, you contribute to a productive learning environment and support students in their work based on existing plans. Since school and afterschool programs work together, you often follow students throughout the entire day in close collaboration with colleagues on site. You adapt your approach to the group you meet and use digital tools as a natural part of everyday work.
As an hourly substitute, you are an unpretentious team player who enjoys collaborating and learning from others. You are receptive to your colleagues' experiences and are happy to check in throughout the day to provide students with the best possible support. By communicating and reflecting together with your team, you contribute to a smooth daily routine and a positive atmosphere in the workplace.
Your Workplace
Welcome to Slestads School! We are an F-6 school with approximately 320 students and 60 employees located in the Lambohov district in Linköping. There is also a municipal resource school with a focus on autism for grades 1-6 with its own afterschool program. The school has 4 afterschool programs. The school is located near beautiful surroundings with a large schoolyard and access to Lambohov district playground. We actively work with students' safety and well-being at school and in the afterschool program. Clear leadership, collaboration, and a positive view of students are our guiding principles.
About You
To work as a substitute with us, you must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma. We are primarily looking for you with relevant training as a child care worker or afterschool teacher, or you who have ongoing studies to become a child care worker or afterschool teacher. It is meritorious if you have worked in preschool, school, and/or afterschool programs, or have experience with other work with children/youth.
Furthermore, it is a requirement that you have good communicative skills in speaking and writing in Swedish. This is so that you, according to the curriculum (Lgr22), can organize and carry out the work so that the child receives support in their language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that each child can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

You have the ability to create structure, set clear boundaries, and remain calm even when the pace is high. You are a good role model.
Collaboration Skills: Since you step in where needed, your collaboration skills are crucial. You adapt easily. You listen to regular staff's instructions and contribute unpretentiously to smooth teamwork. You communicate and resolve conflicts in a constructive way.
Relationship Building: You are outgoing and socially active in professional contexts. You have strong relationship-building abilities and are skilled at quickly building trust. You make children feel seen and safe, and you meet both colleagues and guardians in an open and welcoming manner.
Quality Awareness: You are quality-conscious and take your assignment seriously. This means you are careful to follow the afterschool program's routines, safety rules, and pedagogical guidelines so that the activity always maintains a high and safe level.
Pedagogical Insight: You have good pedagogical insight and understand how children learn and develop through play and creative activities. You can adapt your communication to children's different ages and needs, and you help them resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
