About the Position At Frölunda and Opaltorget Libraries, we work to make a real difference for children. Children's initiatives and creativity are our strongest driving force. Our facilities are designed to meet children's needs and wishes. We make culture accessible to more people and invite others to co-create our activities. The mission to promote reading permeates everything we do. The unit's two libraries are places where children and their important adults meet around reading, creating, experiences, and community. Together with our users, we build activities deeply rooted in the area, responsive to those who live there, and open to developing alongside users. In our work to promote reading, we place great emphasis on strong knowledge of literature and understanding of our target audience's media habits. We are now seeking a librarian who wants to work with children ages 0-12 and their important adults. In this role, you will meet children in daily library work and build relationships with them, their important adults, caregivers, and other stakeholders in the area. You will work with Bokstart for the youngest children and their families and lead educational activities involving, for example, crafts, art, and other creative pursuits. You will activate the children's ateliers in the libraries and help make these spaces into vibrant places where children can explore, create, and express themselves on their own terms. You will work at both libraries. You will work in a participant-driven and initiative-based manner, which means that ideas and content develop together with those who use the activities. This is a nine-month full-time contract position with the possibility of extension. The position includes day, evening, and weekend shifts according to schedule. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: - A degree in Library and Information Science - Experience working pedagogically with children in creative activities, such as art, drama, or crafts - Strong ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing It is a merit if you have: - Experience with participant-driven and initiative-based working methods - Knowledge of languages other than Swedish and English - Experience working in public libraries Who Thrives in This Role?
