CHILD WELFARE BOARD MEMBER position

Requirements for Child Welfare Board Member candidates:
Citizen or non-citizen of the Republic of Latvia;
Age 30 or older;
Academic bachelor's degree or professional bachelor's degree with level 5 professional qualification, or other qualification corresponding to level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework as defined in Latvia's education classification in pedagogy, psychology, medicine, social work, law, education management, or public administration;
At least three years of work experience in the relevant field of acquired education or in performing the duties of Chair, Vice-Chair, or Member of a Child Welfare Board;
Irreproachable reputation;
State language proficiency at the highest level.
Key responsibilities:
Protect the rights and legal interests of children and persons in care by reviewing submissions, complaints, and conducting fact-checking;
Take necessary actions to ensure child-rearing and proper care in a family environment;
Assess living conditions of persons and conduct family risk assessments;
Determine the child's opinion;
Prepare and direct cases for consideration at Child Welfare Board sessions;
Draft decisions and other documents in accordance with regulatory requirements;
Participate in Board sessions, ensuring collegial decision-making, and take actions to ensure decision implementation;
Draft and submit claims and petitions in special proceedings, participate in court proceedings;
Receive visitors and provide consultations;
Cooperate with other Child Welfare Boards, state and municipal institutions, and law enforcement agencies;
Work with databases, systems, and registries necessary for the Board's operations;
Perform other duties in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Required skills, abilities, and knowledge:
Understanding and knowledge of regulatory requirements governing the performance of job duties;
High sense of responsibility, good communication and cooperation skills;
Strategic and analytical thinking;
High stress resilience and ability to work in high-intensity conditions;
Good proficiency with Microsoft Office applications;
Category B driver's license.

1) reasons for applying, work priorities, describing the abilities necessary for Child Welfare Board work and your own competencies, and benefits to the employer by hiring the candidate;
2) confirmation of meeting the requirements specified in Article 10, section 2 of the Child Welfare Board Law, and that no obstacles mentioned in Article 11 of the Child Welfare Board Law exist for assuming the position of Board Member;
3) confirmation that the candidate agrees that Siguldas novada Bāriņtiesa will obtain data from the Ministry of Interior's Information Center Penalty Register regarding the person's convictions and administrative violations during document evaluation;
