About the assignment The Waste Management Unit in Värmdö Municipality is looking for someone who wants to work as an operations manager waste handler with responsibility for emptying individual sewage systems and grease separators on both the mainland and in the archipelago. In this role, you work both operatively and strategically and have almost daily contact with various stakeholders in the operation. You will have a clear assignment and mandate to continue developing the operation to ensure high quality and customer satisfaction in delivered services, a good work environment for executing contractors, low environmental impact and sustainable economics. Job description The focus of the responsibility area lies in individual sewage systems on the mainland and in the archipelago. In total, there are over 8,500 customers whose individual sewage systems are emptied by the municipality's contractors. In addition, the municipality's contractor empties grease separators from, for example, restaurants. Both on the mainland and in the archipelago, there are plenty of challenges related to performing the assignment. Geography and accessibility vary, and especially the archipelago places great demands on specialized solutions. These conditions give you as operations manager exciting challenges to work with. As operations manager, you have overall responsibility for the operational area. You work daily with monitoring delivered services and handle deviations and feedback. Contact with property owners and businesses via phone, email and through site visits are all common occurrences. On a monthly basis, you handle financial documents from contractors and ensure that contractor compensation aligns with the municipality's agreements and the services performed. Additionally, you work continuously and long-term to develop service offerings, working methods, routines and monitoring to help ensure the operation constantly improves. The services are procured regularly through public procurement, and you have significant responsibility and opportunity to shape the requirements to help ensure the municipality's new contracts are as good as possible for all parties. In this role, you work closely with, for example, your manager, operational support and the supervisory authority. Because the waste management unit is a small group of eight people, we also collaborate across each other's areas of responsibility and support one another when needed. We are looking for someone who recognizes themselves in the following We believe that various different experiences can help you succeed in this role. You may have worked with similar operations either practically or in a supervisory function. You may have experience from manufacturing, construction and infrastructure projects, or other work where you have had responsibility for coordinating multiple stakeholders, responsibility for customer deliveries and contributed to ensuring a good physical work environment at the workplace. Or perhaps you have worked with community development or environmental issues and want to make a real difference by working with a practical operation in the municipality? Relevant post-secondary education is meritorious but not a requirement. However, higher demands are placed on relevant work experience if you lack relevant education. You need to combine the ability to handle customer contact in a calm, clear and professional manner with a structured working method. Being able to analyze for example billing documents and being able to readily absorb information from agreements, laws and regulations is a must. You therefore need to be comfortable working in various IT-based operational systems and for example Excel. You have the ability to work both in a solution-oriented and creative manner, while at the same time being able to act firmly when required. The role requires the ability to both compromise and set clear requirements, depending on what is appropriate in different situations. You don't hesitate to leave the office and venture out into reality when needed to understand or solve a problem in the best way. You can see yourself both next to a septic tank pumping truck and behind a keyboard during a workday. A driver's license with at least category B authorization is a requirement.
