The Regional Government Authority is an important coordinating link at the interface between state, region, municipality, business, and individuals. The Authority works to implement national objectives in the region while taking regional conditions and circumstances into account. This includes balancing important societal interests and resolving conflicting goals. The Regional Government Authority has a broad and multifaceted mission covering both tasks and subject areas. The Authority's main responsibilities include permit review, supervision, knowledge dissemination, and coordination within many societal areas. We employ approximately 230 people and our chief is the County Governor. Description The Environmental Department consists of the units Environmental Protection, Water Protection, Environmental Analysis, and Nature Conservation. The Rural Affairs Department consists of the units Animal Welfare and Wildlife, Agriculture, and Regional Development. The Environmental Department focuses on nature and environment, while the Rural Affairs Department works with food and agricultural issues, rural development, and regional growth. Both departments work with permit review, supervision, knowledge dissemination, and coordination within various societal areas. Job Responsibilities As a department director, you lead and develop work within the department's areas of responsibility in close collaboration with the unit managers. You are part of the Authority's management group and are responsible for quality assurance in decision-making, including weighing different societal interests. In the management group, you contribute to favorable conditions for effective cross-sectoral work, development, and collaboration internally and externally. Active and results-oriented cooperation with other department directors as well as coaching and development of the unit managers in your department are important responsibilities. As a department director, you report to the County Administrator. Qualifications Requirements for the position are: Adequate academic education Adequate management or leadership experience Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish Meritorious qualifications include: Experience with permit or supervision matters Experience in public administration Experience with broad and complex operations Experience in one or more of the relevant subject areas Category B driver's license To succeed in this role, you need to be a friendly, clear, and courageous leader. You must be a Swedish citizen since the position involves placement in a security clearance class. A requirement for employment is approved security vetting with background check.
