Do you want to lead the development of a modern and lawful control operation where analysis, operations, and IT meet? As department manager for Development and Support, you'll have a central role in developing an operation where efficient working methods and digital tools help prevent incorrect payments and combat welfare fraud. Department Mission The Correct Payments operational area is responsible for the Swedish Public Employment Service's control operations. The mission includes, among other things, verification of benefits to job seekers and work to prevent incorrect payments and welfare crime. The operational area has cross-agency responsibility for controls before, during, and after decisions. The responsibility covers verification of job seekers, employers, suppliers, and employees. The operational area shall also follow up on and drive development, efficiency improvements, and learning within control operations. The Development and Support Department consolidates responsibility for developing, managing, and supporting the Swedish Public Employment Service's control operations. The mission includes selection and environmental analysis as well as development of control methodology and digital tools, including IT and AI solutions. The department works closely with the operational units through management, support, and guidance and is also responsible for overall coordination with other agencies on issues related to organized crime and workplace crime. Department Manager's Mission and Responsibility Your mission as department manager includes overall operational, budget, and personnel responsibility for the department's activities. You ensure that the department's results match established goals and expectations. As department manager, you participate in the operational area's management group and, together with the operational area director and other departments, share responsibility for the entire operational area's results, development, and continued renewal. You have an important mission to create a well-functioning management group and, together with unit managers, drive and develop operations. You enable strong performance, high job satisfaction, and a good work environment by working in accordance with the Swedish Public Employment Service's management criteria. You foster a culture characterized by trust, openness, and security. Your work occurs in strong partnership within and outside your own department and in good cooperation with labor unions. As department manager, you are a role model in living the Swedish Public Employment Service's vision, values, and direction for employee and management practices. Basic Requirements for the Position Current management experience with operational, budget, and personnel responsibility, where you have managed other managers As well as Experience leading and conducting organization-wide change and development work Experience participating in management groups and driving shared issues together with other managers Experience cooperating with internal and external stakeholders as well as other agencies Relevant academic education, or equivalent experience/competence acquired in another way Additional Merits for the Position Experience leading operational and IT development in a large or complex organization Experience with strategic and tactical development of control operations or other rule-based processes Multiple years of experience from public sector operations Experience with work related to labor market issues Experience managing operations with employees at multiple locations To succeed in the role, you need Ability to effectively communicate vision, goals, and values Good analytical ability and skill in handling large amounts of information The position is classified as security-sensitive and a security clearance with background check will be conducted before an employment decision is made.
