Your responsibilities
This is a role for someone who thrives with variety. The core work is to operationally manage the daily staffing of the unit where quick solutions are crucial. The work also includes strategic tasks where you develop structures, working methods and future staffing solutions. You like being close to the operations while having the ability to step back and see the bigger picture. You will have an important strategic role in developing our staffing approaches for the entire unit. By analyzing needs, seeing opportunities and thinking long-term, you contribute to creating smart, efficient and sustainable staffing solutions.
As department manager, you lead a team of approximately 20 employees and are part of an engaged management group together with a unit manager, ten department manager colleagues, and three overarching support and development functions. Together you work to develop the Restaurant Unit and create the best possible conditions for operations.
To succeed in the role, you need to be skilled at following up, quality assuring work, and at the same time ensuring that your employees feel good and are doing well in their work. Your employees work at different locations and you will therefore not meet everyone every day.
Your competencies
To succeed in the role, you need to be flexible, structured and accustomed to working with changing conditions, and have the ability to quickly move from analysis to action. You are strategic and analytical, see opportunities for long-term development, and can use facts and needs as a basis for decisions. You are clear and communicative in your leadership, collaboration-oriented, and comfortable leading remotely.
You have substantial management and leadership experience and experience with staffing, staffing planning, or staffing optimization. To function in the role, you need to be comfortable using the IT tools that are essential in your daily work. It is a merit if you have academic education and experience with public meal service operations.

Before you can be employed, you must present a valid criminal record certificate from the police.

About the workplace
The Restaurant Unit's mission is to deliver nutritious and sustainable meals to the city's municipal preschools, primary schools and upper secondary schools. Here, approximately 250 employees work in over 90 kitchens, preparing approximately 30,000 meals every day for the most important guests, children and students—our future. The purpose of the operation is for all children and students to get good food every day. This with a clear overarching goal that everyone will succeed in school or preschool. The meals are planned and prepared in each kitchen based on clear guidelines. The focus is on what is best for our guests as well as reducing environmental and climate impact from the meals.
