We are now seeking an engaged and driven department head for our Clinical Research Unit (CRU) at the Cancer Center. The Clinical Research Unit is a specialized department that drives clinical studies and trials. Our mission is to advance medical knowledge and contribute to improved patient care. Approximately 12 employees with different professional backgrounds work with us, and together we oversee several clinical studies in close collaboration with the care services.

DUTIES
As a department head with us, you see the big picture and potential, and you boldly move us forward. You serve as a role model, work to create shared visions, and unleash initiative in your operations. You challenge and develop, and you encourage and highlight your employees. You take responsibility for your operations within your authority and represent the employer by leading and developing toward the Region's decided goals.
As a department head, you have overall responsibility for operations, finances, and employees, and you lead through close, trust-based leadership. The position is split between leadership and operational work:
50% Leadership - developing operations, leading and coaching employees, and ensuring goal achievement.
50% Clinical work - independent work with clinical studies.
You will become part of the Cancer Center's management group and are expected to actively contribute to the clinic's strategic development work alongside your management colleagues. The position is a permanent employment in your base profession (full-time), with a time-limited management assignment, typically 4 years.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with relevant higher education or university training and experience in both clinical work and research. You also have documented experience in leadership with good results and have actively worked with improvement initiatives. It is meritorious if you have a doctoral degree and if you have completed leadership training.
To thrive in the role, we see that you work in a structured and systematic manner. As a person, you have good collaboration skills, are relationship-building, and enjoy working in teams. You also have a good understanding of research conditions, including processes and finances. You are engaged, communicative, and development-oriented.

The management role within Region Västerbotten is a time-limited assignment, typically 4 years, combined with a permanent employment within your area of expertise.
