Department Manager IFO and AME

Do you want to lead the future social services? We are seeking an engaged and legally knowledgeable department manager who wants to lead and develop the work of the Social Services Department and AME. The Social Services Department is responsible for social matters directed at children, young people, and adults with various needs and focuses and is, together with AME, organized into seven units with approximately 110 employees distributed across six unit managers. You will join an operation with a high pace of development where political decisions, new legal requirements, and societal changes require continuous development of operations and working methods, which demands clear, strategic, and present leadership. Therefore, we are seeking someone with a genuine interest and strong understanding of the social services mission and the regulations that govern the operations. As a department manager, you are part of the Social Services Department's management group together with the department director and the department's staff, which consists of a social coordinator, operations developer, qualified investigator, and systems administrator. You serve as a bridge between the management group and the department's unit managers and have an important role in communicating information and implementing and realizing strategic decisions. In your role, you have close support from a controller in financial work and collaborate with the staff in the department's quality and development work. In this assignment, you will have a key role in translating legislation, research, and proven experience into operations that create real value for residents. Your workplace is based at City Hall in central Mariestad, a couple of minutes' walk from the travel center. Working hours are normal office hours, but we offer our managers flexible working hours and the opportunity to work remotely. 1 position(s). WORK TASKS The Social Services Department is undergoing comprehensive change work due to new and modified regulations within various areas of social services. The new Social Services Act and other legislative changes, increased demands for preventive work, collaboration, and knowledge-based interventions place high demands on management and governance. As a department manager, you are responsible for the Social Services Department and AME's operations, finances, personnel, and working environment. You lead unit managers and employees toward common goals and ensure lawful, efficient, and high-quality operations. You create engagement, build trust, and develop operations together with the management group, unit managers, employees, and collaboration partners. The assignment involves: • responsibility for budget, personnel, and working environment • leading and developing operations based on applicable legislation, national reforms, and municipal goals • ensuring good quality and lawful authority exercise • translating legal requirements into functioning processes and working methods • driving change and development work within social work • strengthening the operation's preventive and knowledge-based work • developing collaboration with internal and external actors • contributing to the department's strategic development as a member of the management group QUALIFICATIONS You have: • a degree in social work or other academic education that the employer deems equivalent • several years of leadership experience within social services areas • very good knowledge of social work and authority exercise • in-depth knowledge within social law, LVU, LVM, public access and confidentiality, and administrative law • worked with budget, quality, development, and change work • experience leading through other managers and creating conditions for sustainable leadership It is meritorious if you have experience with: • leading operations within child and youth care as well as adult services • implementation of new legislation or major operational changes • work in politically governed organizations Who are you?
