About the Position
As Department Manager for Hazardous Waste, you will be responsible for a specialized reception and treatment facility for hazardous waste in both liquid and solid forms. The role combines operational leadership with chemical and technical expertise, where you ensure that materials are identified, classified, treated, and handled safely and correctly. You have overall responsibility for operations, personnel, workplace environment, and finances, and will lead a team of five employees, including an operations manager. You will also ensure that operations are conducted in compliance with applicable legislation, permits, and regulatory requirements.
An important part of the role is to understand and assess incoming materials and ensure that proper treatment, cleaning, and further handling occur based on the material's properties and classification. You will also work on developing the facility's processes and ensuring sustainable and efficient solutions for further handling and disposal of incoming and treated materials.
As part of the role, you will receive training to become both a Safety Advisor for the transport of dangerous goods and a Supervisor for flammable goods. Ohlssons covers the training required for the position, and in these functions you will become an important support for operations, other companies within the group, and external customers on matters concerning classification, storage, handling, transport, and regulatory compliance of hazardous waste.
Key Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility for operations, personnel, workplace environment, and finances.
Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibility for the facility's results and monitoring of goals in safety, environment, quality, and productivity.
Develop and optimize the facility's processes for reception, treatment, and further handling of hazardous waste.
Serve as a specialist and advisor to customers on matters concerning hazardous waste and dangerous goods.
Ensure safe and efficient handling of material flows from reception to final treatment or disposal.
Prepare declarations, classifications, and transport assessments.

Experience and Qualifications
The position requires post-secondary education preferably in chemistry or equivalent professional experience
At least 5 years of experience in management with both personnel and results responsibility
Experience with hazardous waste, chemical handling, process industry, or other regulated activities.
Good understanding of legislation and regulatory requirements in this field.
Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
Driver's license category B.
Meritorious:
Experience with classification and transport assessment of hazardous waste.
Experience with dangerous goods and ADR matters.
Certification as a safety advisor.
The position is located at our facility in Helsingborg, within NSR's area.
