About the Role
Do you want a meaningful job where you can make a real difference for both society and the energy transition? With us, you are part of a vital operation with exciting projects, cutting-edge technology, and colleagues who value each other.
We are now seeking several experienced Automation and Communications Engineers who want to help build tomorrow's maintenance operations!
We are embarking on one of Vattenfall Eldistribution's largest initiatives ever – a historic effort to build stronger, more resilient, and entirely in-house capabilities in maintenance and repair. In a time when the world demands ever greater robustness and durability, we are taking decisive steps to ensure an electricity grid that can handle difficult conditions and deliver when it matters most.
Responsibilities and Tasks
We are now seeking Automation and Communications Engineers who want to strengthen our technical department. We offer you independent and responsible work where you help ensure reliable and modern infrastructure at our facilities across the country. Here you will have good opportunities for both technical development and personal growth in the role.
The Technology & Control Systems Department has approximately 50 engineers with specialist expertise in automation, communications, control equipment, and design. Here you will meet colleagues who are passionate about technology, enjoy sharing their knowledge, and take great responsibility for both quality and safety.
Your Role as Automation and Communications Engineer
Contribute to preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of automation and communications equipment
Contribute to projects for renovation and new installation of automation and communications solutions and ensure the implementation of new, ongoing projects within the field
Be involved in developing design, procuring materials, construction, implementation, installation, and commissioning
Manage supplier and contractor contacts
Our work takes place in environments that sometimes involve high altitudes and potential hazards, which is why safety and risk awareness are always paramount. At the same time, our daily work is characterized by collaboration, problem-solving, and the opportunity to work close to the technology that keeps Sweden's electricity grid running. Travel is a natural part of the work, mostly day trips but travel with overnight stays occurs.
Requirements Specification
Our way of working is characterized by freedom with responsibility, and as a person you are therefore driven by taking on challenges, solving problems, and achieving set goals. Since you will have contact with both internal and external contacts, we are looking for someone who is service-oriented and enjoys working both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues.
In addition to your personal qualities, we would like you to have:
Education in telecommunications, automation, or electrical engineering, or equivalent practical experience that the employer deems equivalent
Several years of experience working in telecommunications, automation, or electrical engineering
Experience with technology such as fiber optics and radio-based communications, for example 4G and radio links, station bus-based networks according to the IEC61850 standard, and IP-based networks
You communicate easily in both Swedish and English in writing and speech. Category B driver's license is a requirement.
Additional qualifications we value:
Experience from the electrical power industry
Experience in previously leading projects or work, preferably as a project manager, or alternatively work experience as a coordinator in the industry
Practical experience with remote control and control equipment, such as RTUs and protective relays
