Do you enjoy meeting people and helping them do the right thing? As a recycling worker at the Degermyran waste facility, you work closely with our visitors and help them with sorting, reuse, and handling of various types of waste. This is a job for you who like being outdoors, making contact with people, and providing good service.
YOUR ROLE
As a recycling worker, you meet private individuals and businesses who come to the recycling center. A large part of your workday you are out in the area where visitors drop off their waste. There you actively make contact, answer questions, and help them sort and leave their waste in the right place.
You also work with the reception and handling of hazardous waste according to our procedures and meet visitors in the reuse house, where items that can be used again are preserved.
The work is practical and takes place largely outdoors year-round. Machine operation and other tasks may occur as needed, but the largest part of the job involves meeting and helping our visitors.
Working hours are scheduled daytime Monday–Friday. Every third week you work evening on Monday and Wednesday, and during high season (May 1–October 31) you also work every third Sunday. Anyone with a wheel loader license is also included in snow plowing duty during winter.
YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE
For this job, you need to have experience from work where customer contact and service have been a recurring part, for example in retail, restaurants, reception, customer service, visitor activities, care, or other service activities. You enjoy many social contacts during the workday and like to take the initiative yourself to meet and help visitors.
You communicate clearly in Swedish and can understand oral and written instructions. In meetings with our visitors, you explain and guide in a simple and understandable way and adapt your communication to the person and situation. Since we also meet English-speaking visitors, you need to be able to have simple conversations in English.
The work is mobile and practical, which means you need to have the physical capacity to work outdoors and handle the manual lifting and moving that occurs.
Sometimes the pace is high and you need to be able to remain calm and provide good service even when there is a lot to do. You take responsibility for getting the work done, work unpretentiously with your colleagues, and help out where needed.
It is meritorious if you have experience from a recycling center, waste management, reuse, or other activities with similar work tasks. Education in hazardous waste handling, B driver's license, forklift certification, wheel loader license, as well as C driver's license with valid YKB are also meritorious.
For this position, you must, according to law, show a current criminal record extract from the Police Authority before a potential employment. This applies to the extract "Work in a leading position within municipalities". It also applies to other positions that are of significant importance for the municipality's activities.
