We look forward to getting to know you and welcoming you to Värnamo Hospital! Värnamo Hospital Värnamo Hospital is one of Sweden's largest regional hospitals. We provide specialized care—both planned and acute—for diseases and injuries that cannot be examined or treated at primary care centers. With approximately 100 hospital beds, Värnamo Hospital is large enough to give you broad clinical experience—and small enough that you'll quickly get to know your colleagues and feel at home. We have several newly renovated care units, a modern dialysis unit, and a well-equipped emergency intake. Surgery and intensive care are conducted in newly built, modern facilities, and our psychiatric operations have also recently moved into new premises with high quality and modern technology. What We Offer You At Värnamo Hospital, we strive to offer the AT you want. We listen to what you need and want to develop in. Together we shape an AT where you have the right conditions to become a confident and competent physician. Through, for example, AT councils and workplace meetings, you'll have the opportunity to influence your AT and our operations. Regular reflection meetings with an experienced facilitator also give you the chance to pause, reflect, and grow in your professional role. We offer an AT with good introduction and regular educational activities. We want to give you the opportunity to develop and be inspired outside the clinic as well. Therefore, we cover fees, travel, and accommodation for the AT/BT conference, while you get paid time off. Do you want to specialize in a particular area? You have the opportunity to participate in external training for 2–5 days, at our expense. We offer 10 AT blocks with positions starting in March and June 2027. All AT blocks comprise 21 months and are distributed as follows: • Six months surgery (four months surgery, two weeks anesthesia, and six weeks orthopedics) • Six months medicine including geriatrics • Three months psychiatry • Six months general medicine Within your AT block, you have six elective weeks (observership). Who We're Looking For You must have a medical degree by the planned start date of the AT block. International applicants must have authorization from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) to complete an AT in Sweden and must have documented Swedish language proficiency at the C1 level. Our goal is to assemble a competent group with diverse characteristics, which we believe benefits both the AT physicians and our hospital. What we look for in common is that you are responsible, calm, confident, and stable in stressful situations, and that you have good collaboration skills. We place great importance on personal suitability. Application and Interview Your application should include: - Motivational letter - CV - Transcript from LADOK/medical degree certificate - At least 2 clinical references - Photograph Applicants with medical training from another country must also submit the National Board of Health and Welfare's decision granting authorization to complete an AT in Sweden. We aim to have a fast recruitment process where interviews are conducted continuously as applications arrive. Admission decisions are made shortly after the final application deadline. We ask for responses within a couple of days. If you are offered an AT position, we will request a criminal record extract.
