We are now seeking two student assistants for our team at the adapted primary school in Sala. About the Workplace Adapted Primary School in Sala is a municipal school providing instruction in grades pre-K through 9. Here, instruction is conducted within the adapted primary school's subject areas and subject fields. We also have after-school care and leisure club activities. We have approximately 60 students and over 35 staff members. The upper school is located in the C building at Kungsängsgymnasiet, while the lower and middle school are at Åkraskolan. Each school has a student support team consisting of a principal, assistant principal, school nurse, school psychologist, counselor, and special education teacher. Job Responsibilities During school hours, you will be part of a work team with teachers and other teaching assistants where you support students throughout their school day. You will support students' academic development in instruction based on the adapted primary school curriculum. During other times, you will be part of the adapted school's after-school care/leisure club, where your work team plans and implements activities according to the after-school curriculum. Daily tasks include supporting and assisting students with their needs. This includes both medical and care needs. You should also have an interest in and curiosity about supporting and working with students who display challenging behavior. Qualifications To be a suitable candidate for this position, you should have documented knowledge and experience working with children and youth with special needs and intellectual disabilities, as well as knowledge and experience working with students with challenging behavior in adapted school settings. You should be well-versed in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). We believe you have completed a children and leisure program, have other post-secondary pedagogical education, or have previous experience that the employer considers equivalent.
