At the Swedish Work Environment Authority, we work together to ensure that no one becomes ill, injured, or dies at work. That's why we help employers meet the requirements in place and inform them about how occupational safety work becomes a natural part of daily operations. Based on the Work Environment Act, we develop regulations, inspect workplaces, and spread knowledge about occupational safety issues. The mission is serious, but our everyday work is characterized by job satisfaction and we are considerate and helpful colleagues. Your New Position As an occupational safety inspector, you inspect the work environment at various workplaces. Within given parameters, you plan, conduct, and follow up on inspections across many different operations. You communicate requirements based on occupational safety and working time legislation and associated regulations, and you report any deficiencies found during inspections to the employer. The role involves exercising authority as a public official. Among other things, you handle penalty fees, issue immediate prohibitions, and prepare cases for decisions. Documentation such as service notes, inspection notices, materials for penalty fees, and other decisions are part of the role. We also work to combat work-related crime in cooperation with other authorities. Inspection work includes meeting and leading conversations with both management of large employers and small business owners, safety representatives, colleagues at other authorities, union representatives, and employees. The focus of inspections varies over time based on risk analyses and priorities. You take responsibility for ensuring that your work contributes to the authority fulfilling its mission and reaching its goals. In your work, you act in accordance with the state value base and its principles.
