Employment Information Employment Type: Fixed-term contract Employment Period/Start Date: Immediately or by agreement, until June 5, 2027 Scope: Part-time, 15% of full-time Number of Positions: 1 Application Deadline: September 7, 2026 Work Location: Västerås Department: University Library Job Responsibilities You will work at the university library's information desk assisting users in searching for and locating books in the library. You will answer common questions regarding borrowing, returns, and reservations. The work also includes picking up reserved books, handling mail, newspapers, shelving books, and other routine tasks. Work is scheduled for morning and evening hours, and you will work independently at the information desk. Qualifications/Requirements Only those admitted to basic or advanced level studies at a Swedish educational institution can be employed as a library assistant. We will prioritize students admitted to MDU for this position. Employment as a library assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Sections 8-12. The position requires that you have proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. You need to be conscientious and well-organized, and demonstrate a positive and professional demeanor with a service-oriented mindset. In an overall assessment of suitability, personal qualities are also weighted. All employees at MDU are expected to collaborate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for operations and their own work tasks, and contribute to a good work environment. As a person, you have the ability to read and follow established procedures and instructions, and you are meticulous.
