Description The School of Architecture is seeking three tutors for work during fall semester 2026 and spring semester 2027. The positions are at 10% of full-time with employment starting October 2026 or by agreement. Application deadline is September 8, 2026. Duties The School of Architecture is seeking tutors in two different areas: one tutor for our workshop and two for communications. In your application, you will be asked to specify which area or areas you are interested in working within. As a workshop tutor, you will primarily work with: Service and maintenance work, Monitoring and operation of machines for digital and manual manufacturing, Instruction and support for other students in various techniques (as time permits), Creating and maintaining good order in the workshop facilities. As a communications tutor, you will primarily work with: Developing and publishing marketing materials in coordination with the School of Architecture's Communications Officer, Planning for and participating in Open House events, guided tours, and study visits, Communication with international applicants to the School of Architecture's master's program, including guidance and answering questions related to the program and application process, Teaching support in courses regarding digital tools. Duties may vary over time according to the needs and development of the organization. Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a tutor, you must be admitted to a degree program at basic or advanced level at a university or higher education institution. As an applicant for a tutor position, you must: be enrolled in the Architecture Program, years 2–5, or in the Master's Program in Architecture and Urban Design at the School of Architecture in Umeå. for workshop work, be interested in digital manufacturing and the workshop's machinery. Knowledge of Swedish is advantageous. for communications work, have an interest in developing your knowledge in communications and marketing, and be well-versed with social media (e.g., Instagram). Be interested in working with digital tools. Good knowledge of Swedish is required. Experience with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, and/or After Effects is advantageous. Selection among applicants will be made based on merit, suitability, and experience with similar duties. Terms As a tutor, you are employed by Umeå University.
