Description Bildmuseet is one of Sweden's leading art halls for international contemporary art, part of Umeå University and the public heart of the Artistic Campus, right by the Umeå River. We are now seeking a museum assistant at 18% to staff our reception, art workshop, and exhibitions. The employment is for the period September 18, 2026 – June 6, 2027, with a start date of September 18 or by agreement. Job Responsibilities As a museum assistant in art mediation, you will work meeting Bildmuseet's visitors – at the reception, in the art workshop, or in the exhibitions. You manage the museum shop, answer questions and provide information about exhibitions and programs, and conduct guided tours for groups in both Swedish and English. In our creative workshop, where we draw from the themes and techniques in Bildmuseet's ongoing exhibitions, you will offer creative activities to our visitors – families with children, young people, and adults. Your responsibilities include supervising ongoing exhibitions and performing alarm and security procedures in the building. In addition, you create and publish posts on Bildmuseet's social media. The role also includes participating in exhibition openings and attending staff previews of new exhibitions. Evening and weekend work occur. Other work duties within the operation may also be added. Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a museum assistant, you must be enrolled in education at the basic or advanced level according to Chapter 5, Section 10 of the Higher Education Ordinance. A registration certificate from Ladok showing studies at the basic or advanced level during fall semester 2026 and spring semester 2027 must be presented no later than when the employment decision is made. The holder of this position must be a student throughout the entire employment period. We are looking for you who are pursuing higher education studies and have a strong interest in contemporary art and visual culture. You have experience working with people in, for example, service, care, education, or similar fields. As a person, you are ambitious, flexible, and have good collaboration skills. You are also service-oriented, pedagogical, and can express yourself well orally in both Swedish and English. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
