About the Department The Department of Materials Science aims to be an environment for successful and valuable research and education focused on materials science solutions for important societal challenges. Our department is an exciting workplace with research in a broad technology-related field, from basic research to large-scale applied research, and has close contact with students through the department's involvement in civil engineering, bachelor's, and master's programs. The department has seven divisions with different research focuses, as well as an administrative division for support and services. The department is an international workplace with approximately 230 active employees. Read more about us here About the Division The Division of Nanotechnology and Functional Materials is part of the Department of Materials Science at Ångström Laboratory. We conduct research in functional porous materials for energy and environmental applications, nanobiomaterials, sustainable electrical energy storage and energy conversion, functionalization of electrode surfaces for catalytic applications, additive manufacturing for pharmaceutical materials, microsensors for in vivo use, and sustainable materials from biomass. Researchers at the division thus have extensive experience in functionalization of biomaterials, biocompatibility, additive manufacturing, organic energy storage, nanosafety, as well as development and analysis of functional porous materials. Read more about the division here Our research group specializes in the synthesis and optimization of a broad spectrum of porous materials, including porous oxides, zeolites, metal-organic frameworks (MOF), zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF), and more. We are now seeking a research assistant who wants to join our group. As a research assistant, you will be responsible for conducting experimental research work in the development of mixed metal oxides and metal-organic frameworks (MOF) with narrow pores as effective photocatalysts. Responsibilities: Typical responsibilities include synthesis and characterization (e.g., X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and gas adsorption) of solid oxides and metal-organic frameworks (MOF), as well as collaboration with other researchers on photocatalytic reactions using MOF materials. The responsibilities also include assisting other researchers with experiments in related research areas. Qualification Requirements: To be employed as a research assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted to and registered in education at basic or advanced level, and the employment must not exceed 50% of full-time work.
