About AI Academy AI Academy is an initiative that challenges talented students from many different programs with exciting real-world AI problems. Our goal is to contribute to society by giving the next generation of AI experts practical experience working with problems faced by stakeholders in academia, industry, and government organizations. More information: https://liu.se/forskning/ai/ai-academy About the Job Your work will consist of conducting research and development work within one or more of the projects that AI Academy runs together with active researchers and often in collaboration with external companies or organizations. Research and course assistants play an important role in research and teaching in our department, where the goal is always the highest quality. Throughout the year, we collect interesting AI problems from academia, industry, and government organizations. At the beginning of each fall, spring, and summer term, AI Academy starts a new round with participants. Each project idea is pitched and participants indicate their project preferences. We then assign each participant a project and our AI experts mentor the project groups together with third-party project stakeholders. Each project group has access to a growing repository of AI models that is continuously expanded. At the end of each project, results are summarized in a brief presentation. About You To be employed as a teaching assistant, you must be admitted to a higher education program at the basic or advanced level. We are looking for someone interested in AI/ML who wants to work with research and teaching alongside your regular studies at Linköping University. Documented experience in AI, machine learning, and teaching or other types of leadership roles is advantageous, especially if they relate to the areas the position encompasses. Good communication and collaboration skills are required. Your Workplace The Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA) was founded in 1983, but our roots go back to the early 1970s. It is one of the largest computer science departments in Northern Europe. Our research covers a broad spectrum of areas, from basic computer science to applied fields. The extensive research also influences our undergraduate and graduate education, which leads us to offer courses in several civil and engineering programs, as well as programs in innovative programming, cognitive science, and statistics. More information: https://liu.se/ida You will work as part of LiU AI Academy, which is run by Professor Fredrik Heintz at the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems (AIICS) at the Department of Computer and Information Science. Activities within AIICS focus on intelligent artifacts—constructed physical systems containing computers and software to perceive and interpret the environment and draw conclusions to act rationally. Examples of such artifacts are unmanned vehicles and mobile robots. Research and teaching within AIICS cover most sub-areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and autonomous systems. About the Position The position is limited to approximately four months during the fall term with a scope of 20–50% of full-time according to agreement. Start date according to agreement. An appointment as a teaching assistant is governed by Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Salary and Benefits Salary according to LiU's central agreement on teaching assistant salary.
