AcadeMedia is now seeking a centrally employed school librarian for Queen Blanka Upper Secondary School at Odenplan in Stockholm. As a centrally employed librarian, you will manage the library at the school while receiving professional development and collaborative learning opportunities with other school librarians across the organization. Are you organized, driven, and relationship-focused, with a passion for developing and managing school libraries? Then this position might be for you. About the position You will lead and develop the school library at a school located near Odenplan in newly renovated facilities. You will work at a school with a strong student focus, serving motivated students from various upper secondary programs. Based on AcadeMedia's school library plan, you will work on language development, lead the library council, and collaborate with staff on media and information literacy (MIK) and reading promotion initiatives. You create a safe and inclusive environment, support the school's work on democracy and values education, and ensure a relevant and up-to-date book collection. You will be employed centrally by the organization and receive a mentor during your first year. You will work under the principal's leadership but report to the central coordinator for school libraries within the upper secondary segment. Together with other school librarians, you will be part of a professional development and collaborative learning network. About you We seek someone who is organized, self-motivated, and skilled at building relationships. You work well with both students and staff, can work independently and in teams, and have a strong interest in education and learning. You are responsive, communicate clearly, and engage both colleagues and students to promote participation and well-being. Requirements You must hold a degree in library and information science or another relevant academic qualification. Experience in school libraries or other educational settings is an asset. You have strong digital competence and a keen interest in children's and young adult literature. Personal suitability will be weighted heavily. The position is a fixed-term contract at 60% full-time equivalent, starting October 1, 2026, or by agreement. The employment runs through June 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension. We are working to coordinate this important function, which may lead to expanded responsibilities over time. Application deadline: September 20, 2026.
