2 Course Assistants for CEMUS The Department of Earth Sciences is Sweden's most comprehensive academic environment for research and education in earth sciences. To understand how our planet works, our researchers seek answers in the field, through laboratory experiments, and advanced models. Our research combines natural sciences and engineering with social sciences and is often interdisciplinary. Duties As a course assistant, you will work with planning, administration, implementation, and reporting of a university course. The work is based on the course plan and is carried out together with a colleague and in close collaboration with guest lecturers, the course working group (consisting of experienced university teachers, researchers, and professors), and the course coordinator at CEMUS. The duties include contact with guest lecturers and students, planning the course structure, literature, preparing and conducting seminars, workshops, and course administration. The work involves building creatively on experiences from previous course iterations and passing on your own experiences to future assistant course coordinators and course assistants. As a course assistant, you have a special responsibility to support colleagues with less experience working with student-led courses. The positions involve work with implementation and reporting of one of the following courses: • Project Management, Engagement and Communication for Sustainability (1mv084) • Sustainability Challenges in Sweden (1mv016) and Global Challenges and Sustainable Futures (1mv071) (the position involves working with both of these courses) Qualification Requirements • Current and documented experience working with student-led education in interdisciplinary environmental settings. • Good computer skills and strong English language skills in speech and writing. • Documented ability to independently drive and complete work tasks within given time frames, including during temporary periods of high workload. • Personal suitability will be given significant weight. Desired/Meriting Qualifications Ongoing or recently completed studies, preferably within sustainable development. It is a merit to have completed 120 higher education credits. Documented experience of strong ability to collaborate with people from different backgrounds.
