The Swedish Armed Forces are in an expansion phase and on an extensive growth journey. The Swedish Armed Forces' cyber defense is an integrated part of military defense and constitutes a military strategic resource. Cyber defense has the capability to conduct offensive and defensive cyber operations as well as to detect, identify, and counter threats from the most qualified actors. The effects of a cyber attack can have equally significant consequences for critical societal functions as a conventional armed attack. 2nd Cyber Defense Battalion is part of the Swedish Armed Forces' capability for armed conflict in the cyber domain. We defend the Swedish Armed Forces' command and control systems through both proactive offensive activities and reactive handling of IT security incidents. Our dimensioned adversaries have substantial resources and high competence, which sets high demands on us to protect these systems. The 2nd Cyber Defense Battalion conducts cyber operations 24/7 year-round to protect Sweden and our allies. Our employees are among Sweden's forefront in cyber defense, and the battalion has a strong focus on ensuring that those who work with us thrive and have the opportunity to utilize their expertise. Main Responsibilities As an operator with us, we see you as part of developing the battalion's operations related to tools and infrastructure. You are a natural part of the operations development and improvement work, and you participate in conducting realistic attack simulations. Your responsibilities may be adapted based on your experience, capabilities, and drive. The battalion's combined resources must be able to operate at all levels of the conflict spectrum, but we may also be used to support society during crises or other serious events, which means the position places certain demands on you as an individual. The role is varied, which requires that you can act independently and have the ability to adapt to new circumstances. You will enter an exciting phase where you have the opportunity to influence both your own development and the battalion's development in operations. Qualifications 2-4 years of professional experience in systems development or IT security-related work Technical academic degree or knowledge acquired through relevant professional experience Knowledge in a programming language (Rust, C/C++, Python) Knowledge of how operating systems, encryption, and networks function, and comfortable with terminal and script environments Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English Meritorious Experience with penetration testing or Purple/Red Team assignments Knowledge of how to move through an environment after access establishment without creating attention Purple/Red Team frameworks such as TIBER-EU Knowledge of purple teaming tools (e.g., Bloodhound, Pacu, Burp, Metasploit, Cobalt Strike, and Mimikatz) Experience with modern development methods and CI/CD or container solutions Certifications in IT security, such as OSCP, GPEN, or GXPN Personal Qualities We see that you are responsible and unpretentious and have the ability to take initiative to achieve desired results. Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both career officers and civilian experts. As of January 1, 2023, Headquarters consists of the Defense Staff, Operation Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, and Headquarters' Staff Division and independent supervisory units. Employment with us entails placement in a security classification. Swedish citizenship is typically required. A security clearance with background check will be conducted before employment in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment includes an obligation to be mobilized for war. The employment also includes an obligation to serve abroad. The meaning of this varies depending on the type of position. A CV and cover letter must be attached to the application for employment.
