The 1st Cyber Defense Battalion (1.CFF) is part of the Swedish Armed Forces' capability for armed conflict in the cyber domain. We defend the Swedish Armed Forces' command and control systems through both proactive operations and reactive management of IT security incidents. Our dimensioned adversaries have substantial resources and high competence, which places high demands on us to protect these systems. Since the battalion's operations involve handling live operations, you will be an important player in defending Sweden and strengthening our collective capabilities in the cyber domain. Main Responsibilities As a senior employee with us, you will be part of the Systems and Administration department. We work on developing the tools and platforms used in cyber operations by all cyber defense battalions. Work tasks will vary over time in type, scope, and area. Tasks may include scripting, programming, automation, and finding and implementing software components. You are expected to share your knowledge and be curious about learning new things and technologies. Work is typically done in teams, and there is always someone to ask. Required Competencies IT education or equivalent work experience Extensive experience in multiple areas of IT development and/or implementation of IT systems Linux competence Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written Meritorious Experience in IT security and/or cybersecurity Windows competence, such as server, AD, certificates, and/or IAM Automated configuration management via, for example, Ansible or equivalent Experience with SIEM products such as Elasticsearch or Splunk Programming of information systems, application to database, such as Java or NPM Personal Qualities For you to thrive in a senior technician role with us, you should be a person with the ability to prioritize, coordinate, and communicate. You should be comfortable taking your own initiative and working independently while also enjoying working in a team. We also see that you are a problem solver who works carefully and is well aware of goals and quality standards and lives up to them. Great weight will be placed on personal qualities. Employment with the Swedish Armed Forces requires Swedish citizenship. Employment includes national and international service obligations. The position has combatant status, which means you must be able to handle and use weapons. You will receive this training from us. Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees—both professional military officers and civilian experts. As of January 1, 2023, Headquarters consists of the Defense Staff, the Operations Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, and Headquarters' staff department and independent supervisory units. Employment with us involves placement in a security classification. Swedish citizenship is usually required. A security clearance with background check will be conducted before employment in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment includes an obligation to be placed on war assignment. Employment also includes an obligation to serve abroad. The scope of this varies depending on the type of position.
