We're Seeking a Dedicated Child Advocate for Placed Children at IFO Children and Family Services

Description:

1 position(s). One of our social workers who has been working as a child advocate has moved on to new challenges, so now we need you—someone who wants to work in an organization focused on doing the very best for the children and young people in our municipality. Have we caught your interest? Then this is the job for you! Description Individual and Family Care is seeking a social worker to work as a child advocate for the children and family unit. The position involves serving as the designated social worker for children placed in foster care. You maintain contact with the child to ensure their well-being, work to ensure the child's educational and healthcare needs are met, and assess the ongoing need for care. As a child advocate, you actively work with the three-part parental relationship, which includes contact with the child, parents, network, and foster family. You also maintain contact with guardians, specially appointed custodians, and partner organizations including child psychiatry services, schools/preschools, and rehabilitation services. You will document in our Lifecare management system. Because many of our foster-placed children are placed outside the municipality, the work also involves longer travel during work hours. What Can We Offer You? We who work here are knowledgeable and dedicated to our work, and we care about each other and maintaining a good atmosphere in our teams. We want our work to be characterized by shared values, quality, and legal security, and we think it's important to develop in our work. You will join a functioning work group with close leadership. We are in an exciting phase where we are developing both support for foster families and doing the best possible for our placed children. You will be part of the Placement Team, consisting of two additional child advocates, four foster care coordinators, and a team leader. The Children and Family unit has two additional teams: an Intake/Assessment Team and an Open Care Team that works with treatment and prevention. Within the entire IFO organization there is also an Adult Unit where we together have a social responsibility worker and a project manager for the implementation of the new Social Services Act. There is an established structure for regular support including case consultations and external supervision. When you start your position with us, you will receive customized onboarding, whether you have extensive experience or are newly qualified. You will receive support during your introduction from a mentor, team leader, and manager—all to ensure the best possible start with us. You will also be part of our implementation journey regarding the Signs of Safety method. Characteristics As a person, you are mature, confident, responsible, persistent, and stable. You have the ability to maintain focus even in stressful situations. You take initiative for development and meet challenges and new conditions with a positive attitude. You have the ability to work independently and in close collaboration with others. It is important that you recognize that relationships with placed children should be long-term and that you plan to work in the child advocate role for an extended period. Qualifications For this position, a completed social work degree, a category B driver's license, and a valid police clearance certificate are required for employment. We would appreciate it if you have experience with authority work and social work with children and families, that you can see possibilities and communicate in a respectful manner. You have good assessment and documentation skills as well as the ability to independently plan and structure your work. You actively participate in the development of the organization and contribute your knowledge and experience. Experience working according to the BBiC framework and with the Lifecare management system is an advantage. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Working Hours and Scope Full-time. Permanent position. Start date September 1, 2026, or by agreement. Salary Monthly salary with individual salary setting applies. Arboga Municipality offers you, among other things, wellness benefits and smoke-free work hours! Application The final application deadline is June 21, 2026. Interviews will be held during week 27. Selection is ongoing, so please submit your application today! We decline all contact from recruitment and staffing agencies in this hiring process! Employment Type: Permanent employment.
