Skolslussen is part of the development unit and serves as a central resource for municipal primary schools, grades F-9, in Eskilstuna municipality, including consultation teams and crisis school services. We are a multidisciplinary team of special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, special educators, teachers, counselors, and teaching assistants with broad expertise and extensive experience working with students facing complex educational challenges. Our team is trained coaches focused on school activities. Our mission is to support and develop Eskilstuna's municipal primary schools with special education and psychosocial expertise for students with challenging and extensive behavioral issues. Our goal is to find sustainable solutions for school attendance tailored to each student's circumstances. As a team, we work at the organizational, group, and individual levels with preventive, proactive, and intervention measures. Skolslussen always operates from a relational approach. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES At Skolslussen, you will be part of a unit with 8 colleagues. As a special education teacher, you will assess and map subject-specific needs of students who, for a shorter period, require placement in our small-scale setting. You will work with a small group of students whose needs often include one-on-one support during assessment, with the goal of recommending specialized support measures or alternative school placements. We are responsible for placements in our municipality-wide specialized teaching groups. Your focus will be on academic subjects, primarily mathematics and English, though you may teach other subjects based on student needs. You will also work at schools providing consultative support through observations to assist schools and develop recommendations for improved classroom conduct and learning conditions. Regardless of the type of support provided, it is always done in close collaboration with the school, other external partners, and guardians. Other responsibilities include individual conversations with students and parents and supporting the coordination of support networks around each student. Our students often have extensive behavioral issues, and you will need to be prepared to handle acute and challenging situations. We offer collaborative learning, and you will participate in several professional development initiatives and training opportunities. You will be hired on a temporary seasonal contract. QUALIFICATIONS We place great emphasis on personal qualities. The most important aspect for us is how you interact with others. You must be able to build trust and confidence with students. Being attentive, respectful, and empathetic are key qualities, while also being clear and direct. You need to be humble, flexible, and able to adapt quickly, as our work often requires it. No two days are alike, and it is important that you are comfortable with and can handle an unpredictable work environment. We want to build a team where we are attentive to each other's and students' needs and recognize each student's potential. Since this work is easy to become personally invested in, you must also have a strong ability to set boundaries, manage internal stress, and not bring work home with you. In addition to strong commitment, we want you to have drive and be development-oriented. At the core, you must be a certified teacher with qualifications to teach mathematics and have completed a special education teacher training program, plus hold a valid driver's license (category B). You have at least three years of experience both teaching in primary school and working with children and young people with disabilities and behavioral issues. Additional qualifications in various assessment tools, experience with subject-specific mapping of students, and training in MI and TMO are considered major assets.
