Nurses for Pediatric Emergency Department in Malmö

Description:

Make a difference. Every day. Do you enjoy working with children and are drawn to working in an emergency department? Then you are warmly welcome to join us at the Pediatric Emergency Department in Malmö! With us, you will have the opportunity to work in a educational and varied environment. We have approximately 30,000 visits per year and receive acute medical cases in children and adolescents around the clock. All children and adolescents up to 18 years old with acute medical, orthopedic, and surgical conditions are cared for based on a humanistic holistic approach—medically, nursing-wise, psychologically, and socio-pedagogically. We see everything from minor ailments that only need advice to life-threatening conditions requiring care from a multidisciplinary team activated through the hospital's alert system. We work with the best interests of children and families at the center, following the guidelines of the Nordic Association for Sick Children's Needs (NOBAB). We use the Triage Handbook, RETTS, and other protocols, and work closely with Primary Care, Adult Emergency, pediatric wards at Skåne University Hospital (SUS), and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP). Together with pediatric nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, receptionists, secretaries, and social workers, we strive to provide the best possible care to each individual child. Our motto is that we do it together. We are launching the Competence and Service Model (KTM) to provide a clearer career and responsibility pathway. Are you curious about us and our department? Would you perhaps like to come and observe with us? You are warmly welcome to contact us! 2 position(s). DUTIES We now look forward to welcoming two colleagues to our team at the Pediatric Emergency Department in Malmö! In your role as a nurse, pediatric nurse, or emergency nurse, you will perform typical tasks at a pediatric emergency department, including triage to the appropriate level of care, assessment and treatment of acutely ill children. Beyond direct patient care, all staff members are involved in continuing to develop and improve care in our unit. Children are always our focus. Information and communication with parents and children are an important part of our work. An ambulance with a critically ill child can arrive at any time, and we need to think quickly and work systematically as a team in our emergency room. Our unit-responsible specialist nurses ensure that you as a new employee receive an individually tailored introduction program with follow-up conversations with a designated mentor. The length of the introduction is adjusted based on experience and competence. Sometimes we can accept a newly qualified nurse each term, in which case a 12-week introduction is offered. You will then have the opportunity to participate in a clinical foundation year with a focus on pediatric care together with all newly qualified employees within the pediatric medicine operations area. For employees who have not worked with children before, we offer a training program focused on pediatric care. We work with continuous professional development, and all staff members undergo ongoing mandatory training such as CPR and emergency exercises, internal training, workshops, and observation at other units. Nurses at our department work with a quota-based work schedule model, which means you plan your schedule. The more quota time (inconvenient working hours) you include, the shorter your overall working hours become. Over ten weeks, this can result in a work time reduction of an entire week. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare. Swedish language proficiency equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement. It is meritorious if you have specialist training in pediatrics and adolescent care or emergency nursing. We view it as positive if you have previous experience working with child care and/or emergency healthcare. As a person, you thrive in a dynamic work environment where your ability to take responsibility and quickly adapt and adjust your work to varying situations is central. Furthermore, you are engaged, possess great empathetic ability, and want to contribute to and develop our department. You are professional, like working according to clear structures and routines, and have good interactions with patients, family members, and colleagues. If you enjoy challenges, pace variations, and are flexible, you will thrive with us. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Extracts from suspicion and duty registers will be obtained before any employment. This recruitment uses continuous selection. You are warmly welcome to submit your application today!
