For multilingual students, their native language is an important resource for both knowledge development and learning security. Native language instruction also strengthens development in Swedish and helps achieve the school's goals. We are now hiring a Dutch native language teacher for Karlstad Municipality! You will become part of the native language unit, where approximately 45 colleagues work together to provide students with the best possible conditions to succeed. Responsibilities As a native language teacher, you will plan, implement, and follow up on instruction and/or study guidance in Dutch for students in primary and secondary schools. You will teach according to the curriculum in the native language subject and document students' knowledge development. You will work to promote students' language, knowledge, and identity development by providing them with the ability to communicate orally and in writing, adapt language to different contexts, and develop understanding of culture and social issues connected to the language. You will adapt instruction to students' needs, use digital tools in your work, and provide continuous feedback. Your duties also include study guidance in collaboration with subject teachers and, when needed, support in communication between school and home. You will collaborate with school staff and contribute to values-based work according to the curriculum. The work is conducted throughout Karlstad Municipality, at both municipal and independent schools within primary and secondary education. The position may also include distance learning and requires strong planning skills and flexibility. Qualifications We are looking for you who have: Strong Dutch language skills, both spoken and written, as well as good Swedish language skills Teacher education focused on native language instruction or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent Experience teaching or working with children and young people Good knowledge of school governance documents and the native language curriculum We place great emphasis on personal competencies and are looking for someone who is self-motivated and takes responsibility for planning and organizing your work. You are flexible and able to adapt to changing conditions, such as schedules and student populations. You have strong collaboration skills and work well with colleagues, student health services, and guardians. Furthermore, you are relationship-building and establish trusting relationships with students and colleagues. You also have a holistic perspective where you see the student's complete learning situation and contribute to the school's overall mission. A category B driver's license and access to a car are advantageous since the work takes place at multiple schools. Positions are filled subject to required decisions being made.
