Swedish Language, Rhetoric, and Home & Consumer Sciences Teacher, Grades 7–9

Description:

Municipality: Stockholm Extent: 75–100 % Duration: Permanent, starting August 2026 Required Competencies • Teaching certification with authorization in Swedish • Authorization in Home & Consumer Sciences is meritorious if you are interested in a full-time position About the Job Tellusskolan THEA in Bromma is located a short walk from the cross-town train at Johannesfred. THEA Bromma is the small school with big ambitions. We work with rhetoric as our profile—an approach that strengthens students' communicative abilities, self-confidence, and language development across all subjects. The school employs dedicated and experienced teachers who drive development work together with a focus on collegial learning. We have low staff turnover and high job satisfaction. The school has approximately 150 students, with two classes per grade level, and shows strong results in both grades and national assessments. The school is operated by Tellusskolan II AB, which runs six schools in Enköping, Linköping, and Stockholm. We are largely a teacher-driven organization where your expertise and commitment are crucial to the school's continued development. About the Position We are now seeking a certified Swedish teacher for a permanent position teaching Swedish, rhetoric, and, depending on the scope of the position, Home & Consumer Sciences. The position can be structured in two ways. The main arrangement is a full-time position with teaching Swedish and rhetoric in grades 7–9, work in the school's studio one day per week, and teaching Home & Consumer Sciences. If you wish only to teach Swedish and rhetoric, there is also an option for a position of approximately 75 %, where the assignment includes teaching Swedish and rhetoric and work in the school's studio one day per week. This arrangement does not include teaching Home & Consumer Sciences. Swedish instruction is a central part of the school's work, and we place great value on varied and engaging teaching that strengthens students' reading, writing, language comprehension, and communicative abilities. Rhetoric is an important part of our profile. For us, rhetoric encompasses both language development and personal development. Through rhetoric, students practice expressing themselves, active listening, argumentation, public speaking, and building self-confidence. Your willingness to develop your rhetoric instruction is therefore an important aspect of the position. Higher education or experience in teaching rhetoric is meritorious. One of the major advantages of the position is that as a Swedish teacher, you also teach your classes in rhetoric. This gives you a unique opportunity to work more deeply and coherently with students' oral and communicative development. With approximately 50 additional minutes of instruction per week per class, you can build upon Swedish instruction and give students more time to develop their argumentation, presentation skills, conversation abilities, listening skills, and linguistic self-confidence. For you as a teacher, this means greater opportunities to plan instruction as a whole, work creatively with language and communication, and follow students' development over time. The larger position also includes teaching Home & Consumer Sciences. You are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the instruction. We place great value on instruction that combines practical components with theoretical understanding and provides students with knowledge for an independent and sustainable life. Work in the Studio Part of the position is based in the school's studio, where students with support needs, requiring special adaptations, or needing a calmer learning environment receive support with their schoolwork. The assignment includes: • supporting students in their learning development • providing structure, clarity, and a conducive study environment • collaborating with teaching staff, special education teachers, and student support services • working to build relationships and prevent problems with students in need of support We view this as an important part of the school's work in creating accessible learning environments and enabling more students to succeed. For us, the relationship with students is central. You will therefore be both a subject teacher and, together with a colleague, a mentor for a class. Mentorship includes following students' learning and social development in close collaboration with guardians and colleagues. You will be part of a team working together to create a safe learning environment with good study conditions. An important part of the assignment is also to contribute to the school's systematic quality work, participate in collegial learning, and observe colleagues' teaching. We Are Looking for Someone Who • holds teaching certification and authorization in Swedish • holds authorization in Home & Consumer Sciences or has experience teaching the subject, if interested in the full-time position • has high ambitions in your teaching role and clear leadership in the classroom • is confident working with both instruction and support measures for students • wants to work in a small school where collaboration and shared responsibility are central • sees relationships as key to learning and motivation • wants to actively contribute to school development and collegial learning Other Information Our teachers work from a holistic perspective where you are expected to share the school's values and contribute to school-wide activities. If this description matches you, we warmly welcome your application. Include your certification documentation with your application. Interviews are held on an ongoing basis, and employment begins at the start of the school year in August 2026.
