Teaching Assistant at Bona Folkhögskola

Description:

Bona folkhögskola is seeking a teaching assistant who wants to be close to participants' learning—in the classroom, digitally, and in the many small steps forward of everyday life. One of our high school level teaching assistants is moving on to further studies, and we are now looking for you to become part of Bona's work with participants in general courses. The position encompasses 75–100%, depending on operational needs and your competence. Start date is August 2026 or by agreement. About the Role As a teaching assistant at Bona, you are an important part of participants' learning environment. You work closely with teachers and participants, and contribute to creating structure, safety, accessibility, and context in their studies. The work may involve supporting participants in their ongoing learning, helping clarify assignments and work processes, being available in digital environments, following up on attendance and progression, assisting with practical tasks, and helping participants find effective strategies for their studies. You also share mentoring responsibility for a group together with a teacher. You don't work alongside learning—you work in the middle of it. Our Approach At Bona, we work thematically. This means learning is often built around questions, contexts, and themes where multiple subjects meet. Participants work with social issues, languages, history, religion, mathematics, democracy, culture, media, AI, and current global issues in ways that create meaning and coherence. We use digital environments for communication, course structure, supervision, follow-up, and shared learning. As a teaching assistant, you therefore need to be comfortable with digital environments and ready to work in several different systems and contexts. This includes both supporting participants in their digital learning environment and being able to document, communicate, follow up, and collaborate digitally yourself. AI is a natural part of our development work and is used to support reflection, language, structure, analysis, and independence. You get colleagues who enjoy thinking together, trying new approaches, and taking responsibility for the whole. The role of teaching assistant is important in our approach, since much of the crucial support happens in everyday life: in conversations, in follow-ups, in digital environments, and in the participant's next possible step.
