Are you interested in opening your home and being an extra family for a child or young person on certain weekdays, evenings, or weekends? Then this might be something for you. As a respite care family, you receive a child or young person with a disability in your home during shorter periods. The service gives the child the opportunity for a change of environment, social community, and new experiences, while the child's regular family gets relief. Your Tasks Being a respite care family involves, among other things: a child or young person with a disability visiting your home during planned weekends or occasional days during the week the child or young person gets the opportunity for a change of environment, new experiences, and social community the visits provide valuable relief for the child's family Assignment and Compensation the respite care family role is not an employment, but an assignment you receive a fee as compensation for the assignment you also receive a reimbursement for expenses that should cover costs such as food and activities the fee and expense reimbursement follow the guidelines of Swedish Municipalities and Regions (SKR) After You Apply we review applications on an ongoing basis before an assignment can begin, we conduct a family assessment the assessment is part of the process leading to a possible respite care family assignment Who Are You? The most important thing for a respite care family is that you like children and young people and have the willingness, time, and commitment to make an important difference in a child's life. You don't need previous experience as a respite care family, but it is an advantage if you have experience with children or young people with disabilities. It is also an advantage if someone in your family has education in, for example, child and youth services, health and care, or pedagogy. You are a safe and stable family with personal maturity who can offer a warm and structured environment for a child. With your empathetic abilities, clarity, and holistic perspective, you find it easy to meet children's needs and create an environment where the child can feel seen, understood, and welcomed. You also have a good ability to collaborate and build trusting relationships with the child's family and network.
